Radiological Nurse

A radiology nurse is also known as a medical imaging nurse. The main role of the nurse is to take care of patients before undergoing imaging procedures as well as radiation therapy. The common imaging tests include x-rays, CT scans, MRIs, and ultrasounds. Radiology nurses focus on providing patient comfort and accurate images.

The first step of becoming a radiology nurse is becoming a licensed registered nurse, either with a Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing (BSN) or an Associate of Science in Nursing (ADN). Once either of the programs is complete, the nurses should pass the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN). Working in the radiology field is much easier for nurses with BSN than those with ADN. Radiology nurses gain additional certification from the Association for Radiologic & Imaging Nurses.
