Nurse Manager

Anyone employed as a nurse manager must have a BSN RN (Bachelor of Science in Nursing as a Registered Nurse) or higher. In addition to the additional education, a nurse manager is required to have at least 3 years of clinical experience, preferably 5, in order to be considered for a management position. A Nurse Manager is responsible for the management of the staff and patient case files. They will assist in treatment planning and planning for patient discharge. They also play a role in the recruitment of new staff, maintenance of records, as well as developing budgets. Producing a schedule for the entire nursing staff is also a task undertaken by the Nurse Manager. A Nurse Manager will also be looked upon by the nursing staff to assist when there is conflict on the floor and the Nurse Manager is expected to intercede on behalf of the nursing staff in times of uncertainty within the field. It is a high responsibility position.
